Fourthline is a rapidly growing fintech startup, based in Amsterdam and Barcelona. We fight financial crime by helping banks and leading fintech companies with their KYC (short for Know Your Customer and is nerdy jargon for "onboarding"). 

We have grown >100% in the last quarter alone and work with companies like N26, KPN, DEGIRO, Vivid, Trade Republic, Nationale Nederlanden, Wish, Solarisbank, Bol.com, and many more! With 200 Fourthliners today, we are on a mission to fight financial crime! Since the launch of our KYC solutions three years ago, we have run millions and millions of verifications. In the past twelve months, we have signed contracts with Europe’s most respected (neo)banks, online brokers and fintechs. 


With VC backing of 20mn+ and a strong leadership team, we are working on the next phase of our growth. For 2021, we are on track to grow even faster than last year.  And this is where you come in! Fourthline's first Country Lead France

We have already established a strong track record in France, processing millions of verifications and building a locally compliant solution. Now we need you to double down on the opportunity and further accelerate our fast growth in France!  


“Easy as ABC...” -- some reasons why you might want to develop the French market for us

  • Build out (our strong existing track record in) France. Seize the opportunity to become Fourthline's first Country Lead, accelerate this growth and further localize our product.
  • Enjoy the freedom and autonomy. Fourthline launched it's first product only in January 2018. This implies you'll have a lot of opportunity and freedom (exciting greenfield) when it comes to execution and potential. The market potential is huge (estimated at 20bn in 2022) and our future bright.
  • Build a team. A growing team of young and driven folks that are here to disrupt the market, starting with a first BDR hire. We will further expand based on traction: if you bring success, we'd be crazy not to build out the team around you!
  • Develop you sales and leadership skills. You will build out the French market as our Country Lead. This role is very sales focused so likely ~80% of your time will be focused on signing new clients. The other 20% will be focused on things like localization, collaborating with marketing, PR ideas, deciding (and managing) outbounding strategies with BDRs, etc.
  • Learn on steroids. You will run complex sales cycles with banks and fintechs that have many layers and decision makers. You'll work closely with our Senior and Executive Leadership (ex-Messagebird, ex-WorldPay, Ex-McKinsey, ex-ABN Amro) and report to our CCO (ex-Stripe, ex-McKinsey).
  • Work remote or chill with our office dogs. After a spin-up in Amsterdam, we are open to decide on location. If you'd love to work from Amsterdam, you'll hopefully enjoy our two team dogs: Maya and Sir Nelson!


What we are looking for in you

Commercial business sense and sales experience

  • Consultative selling in the fintech space would be a great first step!
  • If you have developed the French (finance / tech) market that would be step two towards a handshake to work here.
  • If you understand SaaS and possess some complex product experience this will help you to understand and bring our product to market even better and faster.
  • Startup experience would be a nice to have as you have experienced the dynamics of an ever-changing environment.
  • Sales experience is key. We need you to bring experience! And maybe mentor more junior colleagues.

The ‘smarts’

  • Very well-developed analytical skills.
  • An interest and focus on knowledge sharing and gathering.
  • Interest in compliance and legal (our field of business has lots of that!).
  • Reading up to gain new knowledge is something you like to do.

Innovation, automation and external resources

  • If you see opportunities to automate and improve our cycles by adding marketing efforts and PR, set it up!
  • Innovate our way of working with tools that have helped you to be successful in the past.
  • Sociable and fun to be around with. A proud possessor of the positive mindset.
  • Clients need to trust and like you because of the lengthy sales cycles you will not only talk numbers, so they better like to talk and work with you!

Job requirements

Or, what else you bring to the table

  • At minimum 7-10 years of working experience in sales / business development of which +2 years on the French market.
  • Native proficiency in French and good skills in English (German, Italian or Spanish is a huge bonus).
  • Deep understanding of France -- you understand the French market, culture, business, etc.
  • Go-getter attitude that drives you that is combined with a well-developed layer of consultative selling. Going towards your goal without people noticing it.
  • Vision -- you can clearly build, articulate, align and execute on a vision for the market.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Ideally you have worked in a market from scratch and developed this to maturity.
